The Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputy has been taken to hospital after Monday night’s shooting in Lynnwood, authorities said.
Eric Ortiz, the deputy sheriff, a department spokesman, said the shooting took place around 7:20 p.m. near 112th Street and Lorraine Streets.
Ortiz said the injured lawmaker was taken to hospital.
There were no suspects in custody.
More information, including the deputy’s condition in hospital and what led to the shooting, is not available, Ortiz said.
Law enforcement sources familiar with the case told The Times that the deputy responded to a robbery call and was shot upon arrival. The officer was conscious and able to speak.
Times staff writer Richard Winton contributed to this report.
