Police officers, who were attending with the London Ambulance Service, found that one of the two men also had stab wounds. The force was called around 7 p.m. to report a shooting at Upton Lane, E7.
It is not treated as terrorism. There have been no arrests yet.
The Metropolitan Police said in a statement: “Officers attended with the London Ambulance Service and found three men with gunshot wounds, one of whom had stab wounds.
“They have been taken to East London Hospital and we are awaiting an update on their conditions.
“The crime scene is still in place and investigations are underway into the circumstances of the incident and it is not being treated as terrorism. At this early stage of the investigation, no one has been arrested,” he said.
“To prevent further violence in the area, Section 60 of the Newham area has been approved. This is effective until 3pm on Saturday October 9 and gives officers additional powers to stop and search.”
A spokesman for the London Ambulance Service said they received a call at 6.58pm after “a number of people were injured”.
“We have sent a number of resources to the scene: three ambulance crews, three paramedics from our Joint Response Unit, a medical team manager, an incident response officer and an advance paramedic,” they said.
We also sent teams of air ambulances to London.
“We treated three people at the scene and took all three to a major trauma center.”
