With only a week to go until the transfer window closes, it seems unlikely that Liverpool will embark on a spending spree.

While the Reds’ rivals for the Premier League title spent a lot this summer, Jürgen Klopp The side has only recruited RB Leipzig defender Ibrahima Konate.

Attention may soon turn to any work, if any, that can be done in the January window.

In the season phase, clubs can negotiate with players whose contracts expire in the summer of 2022 – and there are some big names available.

The options are reduced in quality when it comes to the current pool of free agents, although the Reds may be tempted to take the chance of a two-star if the team’s needs arise.

Summer 2021 Free Agents

Jerome Boateng

The former Bayern Munich defender has yet to find a new club after leaving the Bundesliga in the summer.

Boateng spent a decade with the Bavarian club and achieved great success in the German Bundesliga.

Liverpool could have done well with extra coverage in this division last season, but now they are well equipped at the heart of defence.

However, if Nat Phillips moves this summer, space may be available.

Jack Wilshere

Jack Wilshere has revealed his willingness to join a new club, but he has not yet received any offers for his services.

The 29-year-old has faced his fair share of injury problems throughout his career, but the former Arsenal midfielder is undoubtedly a talented player.

Although Wilshere would not work as a regular midfield option, it can be argued that he could be an effective player for the purposes of team rotations in cup competitions given his experience at the top level.

Ibrahima Konate is the only player Liverpool sign this summer.

The window closes in less than a week with a lot of great deals in the pipeline.

Liverpool’s rivals have strengthened significantly, to the concern of some fans.

Summer 2022 Free Agents

Kylian Mbappe

It is remarkable to imagine a situation in which Mbappe leaves PSG for free, but that could soon become a possibility.

The France international is nowhere near agreeing to a new contract with Ligue 1, which means PSG will have to shell out cash this summer or risk Mbappe entering talks with new clubs in January.

Real Madrid reportedly saw a £137m bid rejected – but they won’t be the only ones keen to secure a deal early in the year if Mbappe fails to secure an exit next week.

Liverpool have been tentatively associated with their interest in the World Cup winner on numerous occasions. However, the fact of the step – even in the case of a possible free transfer – i A different matter.

pedry

Another deal Liverpool might not want to miss.

The Barcelona midfielder enjoyed an impressive breakthrough season last season, becoming a key figure for both club and country.

Despite being only 18 years old, Pedri showed maturity beyond his years when he starred in the Champions League and was later called up at Euro 2020 for Spain.

Eduardo Camavinga

If Camavinga fails to engineer a move away from Rennes this summer, a move appears inevitable this time next year.

The teen sensation attracted interest from the likes of Paris Saint-Germain and Manchester United and he did not agree to extend his current club.

Like Pedri, Camavinga could be a long-term option for the Reds midfield and has the potential to become a world-class player under Klopp.
