Live broadcast of Euro 2020 loss in England: FA condemns disgusting racist abuse against Saka, Rashford and Sancho
The FA is “appalled” by the racist abuse suffered by England players on social media after losing the Euro 2020 final.
According to The Athletic, Rashford, Saka and Sancho had vile comments on Instagram and sent monkey emojis.
An FA spokesperson said: “The FA strongly condemns all forms of discrimination and is appalled by the online racism targeting certain England players on social media.
“We cannot be clear that anyone behind such disgusting behavior is not welcome to follow the team.
“We will do everything we can to support the affected players while urging the strongest possible sanctions for anyone responsible.
“We will continue to do everything we can to eliminate out-of-game discrimination, but we appeal to the government to act quickly and pass the appropriate legislation so that this violation has real life consequences.
“Social media companies need to step up and take accountability and actions to ban violators from their platforms, gather evidence that could lead to prosecution and support making their platforms free of this kind of hateful abuse.”
