First introduced in 1981 in “The Empire Strikes Back,” the AT-AT, or All Terrain Armored Transport, was the Empire’s primary ground attack platform at the Battle of Hoth. The armor-plated exterior provides protection from the fire of the Rebel Alliance Snowspeeder, and has successfully penetrated the perimeter of Echo Base to deliver its payload of Imperial Snowtroopers. The only way to bring down the Imperial “infantry” was to tie the legs with a tow cable as explained by Wedge Antilles and Wes Janson.
With 6,785 pieces, this is the second largest Lego set in the Star Wars series to date and measures 24.5 inches (62 cm) high, 27 inches (69 cm) long and 9.5 inches (24 cm) wide – it’s more or less accurate to scale with minifigures. Features sliding side doors that open to detailed interiors, movable head and adjustable legs, movable cannons, fast bikes, and frequent web-heavy blasting – as first seen at the Battle of Hoth in The Empire Strikes Back, but infamous in Season one finale From “The Mandalorian”.
To prevent the kit from collapsing under its own weight, the joints are constructed with a combination of Lego Technic turntable gears paired with worm gears and the kit includes a special brick tool that is used to adjust the leg joints, one by one, for the perfect posture. This means that the joints will not twist, but it also means that the legs cannot be held by hand. We haven’t had a chance to see someone yet, but we have no doubts that this will be one Best Lego Star Wars Sets Until now.
The set also includes nine minifigures: Luke Skywalker in a Snowspeeder flying suit, General Vers, two AT-AT drivers, a Snowtrooper captain, and four Snowtrooper minifigures. It’s just under 800 pieces smaller than the original Star Wars oversized masterpiece from Lego: UCS Millennium Falcon, but it’s a little bigger than 4,784 pieces UCS Star Destroyer that followed. The Ultimate Collector series also includes the A-wing and the recently released collection war republic Puts.
The new USC AT-AT kit will be available from November 26th lego . site.
