Latino Restaurant Association kicks off DINE LATINO Restaurant Week – CBS Los Angeles

Pico Rivera (Specila) – In celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month, the Latin Restaurant Association (LRA) launched “DINE LATINO Restaurant Week” Tuesday.

It is part of the LRA Restaurant Recovery Initiative that aims to raise awareness about the “difficult and unfair economic recovery” in the Latin restaurant industry and promote sponsorship for struggling Latin restaurants.

From Tuesday through Sunday, more than 150 restaurants in Southland Latino will be promoting special menu items and special drinks to bring people back to restaurants and help sustain these businesses in their communities.

“We have it in good health, we have Mexican, we have Argentine, Venezuelan and Cuban, it is all wonderful and delicious,” said Jessica Urena, LRA operations director.

LRA CEO Lily Rocha kicked off the special week, along with Vicente Ortiz, owner of Don Chente Bar & Grill.

“Most restaurants in Latin America are mom-and-pop restaurants, so they support our business,” Ortiz said.

El Pescador Bar & Grill in Montebello is pleased to participate because the initiative promotes a fair recovery in the restaurant industry and celebrates and supports Latino-owned businesses.

“It’s a breath of fresh air. We seem to be heading in the right direction toward normalcy, it definitely feels good, you know,” said Gustavo Ortiz, director of El Pescado Bar & Grill.

Customers at El Pescado showed their support for the new initiative.

“It’s a big deal. I mean we support local business owners, Latin business owners, and then we enjoy it,” said sponsor Carlos Cabrera.

The LRA manages business promotion through initiatives but there are also many other ways to help.

“Just liking a photo, sharing it with a friend, telling someone, or leaving a comment, all these simple things nowadays will help. This organization and promotion of Dine Latino helps us,” said Tatiana Pacheca, owner of Andrea’s Healthy Kitchen.
