Real Madrid have made an improved bid of 145.6 million pounds (170 million euros) for Paris Saint-Germain striker Kylian Mbappe.

Paris Saint-Germain rejected the club’s initial offer in La Liga of 137 million pounds (160 million euros) on Wednesday.

Paris Saint-Germain signed Mbappe from Monaco in 2018 in a deal worth 180 million euros (£166 million at the time) But in fact, they have so far paid just €145m (£124m) to Ligue 1 for the France international.

It will be due another €35m (£30m) when the club renews the Mbappe deal, which expires in the summer of 2022, or when they decide to sell him.

The 22-year-old has so far refused to agree to an extension of his contract at Parc des Princes and told Paris Saint-Germain it was his dream to play for Real Madrid, who has been linked with his move throughout the summer.

Leonardo, president of Paris Saint-Germain, confirmed to French radio RMC Sport On Wednesday, the first bid of £137m for Mbappe was cancelled, and the striker will not leave the club unless it is on his terms and if the right conditions are met.

The 2018 World Cup winner has started all of Paris Saint-Germain’s Ligue 1 matches so far this season and scored in a 4-2 win over Brest last Friday.

Mbappe arrived at the club from Monaco in 2017 on a preliminary season loan before making his permanent stay a year later.

He scored 133 goals and provided 63 assists in 174 matches in all competitions and helped them win 11 major domestic titles, including three Ligue 1 titles.
