JFCS Of The Suncoast Begins Playing Seventh Annual Book – CBS Tampa

Sarasota, FL (CW44 10 o’clock news) JFCS of the Suncoast begins its seventh annual “Take-a-Look, Buy-a-Book” book donation campaign on February 1 to spread the joy of reading to children.

Each year, JFCS collects and distributes nearly 4,000 books to promote literacy among local children in pre-kindergarten through fifth grade, with a particular focus on low-income and at-risk preschool children. Books are also given to infants and young children, as well as to older children in middle and high schools.

The book campaign runs from February 1 to March 31, 2022. Community members can participate by:

  • Deliver or ship new books for infants through teens directly to our office at 2688 Fruitville Rd., Sarasota, FL 34237.
  • Encourage organizations, neighborhoods, social clubs, companies, friends and other groups to organize a book collection among their members. The designated person may collect the books and deliver them to the JFCS Administration Building in Fruitville.

The awarded books will be distributed to JFCS clients who participate in a variety of programs, including Camp Mariposa, IGNITE/REACH, Veterans Affairs, Homeless Prevention, Youth Services, and more. The books will also go to local Title I schools, law enforcement agencies, hospitals, summer reading programs and other organizations such as the Sarasota and Manatee County Early Learning Alliance and Embrace Our Differences.
