The Portuguese striker is entering the final year of his current deal with Italian club Juventus but suggests he wants to exit – with Manchester One of the few parties that can actually afford such a deal. “To play for City and not United? I wouldn’t. Why? Because my heart is in Manchester United, that’s why.

Two years later in 2015, he was also asked about the possibility of joining Manchester City and issued a stark response to the club’s financial strength.
“Do you think money now will change my mind at the age of thirty?” Ronaldo responded to the proposal to join City.
“I don’t think so. I think that wouldn’t be a problem. If you were to talk about money, I would go to Qatar and maybe have more money than Manchester City.
“It’s not about money, it’s about passion.”
