Instagram is testing a feature that allows users to set timed reminders to take a break from the app.

Testing started this week with the hope that it will be rolled out in full in December, Instagram head Adam Mosseri shared. This feature allows users to choose a certain amount of time after which the app will remind you to take a break.

The change represents an attempt to address public concerns after the release of internal documents from Instagram’s parent company Meta that showed an awareness of how addictive the app is and its negative impact on people. teen girls. the proposalTake a Break This feature was cited by Meta Antigone’s Global Director of Safety Davis as a way the app was working to protect users’ mental health during a Senate committee hearing in September.

“This, by the way, is part of a broader effort to try to give people more control over their Instagram experience,” Mosseri said. “Ultimately, you know what’s best for you when it comes to how you use the app, and we want to make sure we give you the tools to shape Instagram for you.”
