Husband of murdered Texas Instagram influencer Alexis Sharkey shoots himself before arrest – CBS Dallas/Fort Worth
Houston (CBSDFW.COM) The husband of a social media influencer whose body was found along a Texas highway in 2020 committed suicide, police said.
Houston officials confirmed October 6 that Thomas Sharkey committed suicide when authorities attempted to execute an arrest warrant in connection with the death of his wife, Alexis Lee Robinault Sharkey, who used the name “Alexis Sharkey” on Instagram.

Alexis Sharkey was found dead in Houston in the winter of 2020. More than a month after her body was found, authorities announced an autopsy that showed Alexis died of asphyxiation.
According to the police, an arrest warrant was obtained for Thomas Sharkey last week. Houston police said Thomas was the only person who had the means, motive and opportunity to commit the murder. During the investigation, officials learned that not only was there a pending divorce for the couple, but that there was also a record of domestic violence in the home.
Police say Thomas Sharkey was found by US Marines in Florida on Oct. 5, who was staying with a relative. According to officials, when the marshals entered the house, the 50-year-old went upstairs and shot himself in the head.
The statement from US infantry officials said:
US marshals have adopted an arrest warrant for Thomas Sharkey, who was wanted outside Harris County, Texas, for murder. The Florida/Caribbean Regional Fugitive Task Force of the United States Marshall received the lead from the US Marshal Task Force on the Gulf Coast in Houston that Sharkey was in the Fort Myers, Florida area. U.S. Marshals located Sharkey at a home in Fort Myers and later found him dead from a gunshot wound apparently inside the house.”
Alexis Sharkey’s nude body was found on the Interstate-10 service road – About three miles from her apartment. The 26-year-old moved to Houston with her husband in January of 2020. She was last seen the day after Thanksgiving at the home they shared.
