It’s easy to scan a QR code with your iPhone: just open the Camera app and point it to a code in the real world. Your iPhone will read the QR and provide a link to tap. But you can’t point your camera at the QR code that appears on your iPhone’s screen.
This could be a problem if someone sends you a picture of the QR code or the QR code appears on the website. Nothing works by tapping on it, but you can use this cool trick to scan the QR codes that appear on your iPhone screen.

To scan QR codes in pictures on your iPhone screen, you need to use a third party QR code scanner. There are countless apps like this on the App Store – many of which charge hefty fees if you accidentally sign up for a premium subscription.

Select the QR code image from your photo library.
If the QR code you need to scan is in a website or app, take a screenshot of the image to save it to your photo library. Similarly, if someone has sent you a picture of a QR code, use it. Share Menu to save it to your photo library.
Now, open and tap the QR code scanner that you have installed. Photo Library Icon from the scan page. It usually appears on the Scanning tab of the app, at the top or bottom of the screen.
Then select the image related to your photo library and zoom in on the QR code if necessary.
The QR code scanner will spit the link with the QR code. And that’s it!
