How to Add Your Vaccine Card to Your iPhone’s Apple Wallet – NBC Chicago

More than 17.5 million doses of the vaccine have been given in Illinois. And since some businesses, music venues and restaurants are shifting to the need for proof of vaccination for admission, what is the easiest and fastest way for you to access your vaccine card?

If you have an iPhone, one way to do this is to add your Vaccine Card to your Apple Wallet.

Here’s how to add your vaccination information to your digital wallet:

  1. Obtain a downloadable file or QR code from your vaccination provider. If you are not sure how to do this or if you have, contact your insurance company, or pharmacy or the place where you have been vaccinated.
  2. If you do not know where you got your vaccine from, or where your doses have been given at different locations, you can access your Illinois vaccination record here.
  3. Make sure your iPhone is also updated with the iOS 15.1 software.
  4. If you have a QR code: Open the Camera app on your phone and place it on top of the code. When the Health app notification appears, tap and select “Add to Vault and Health”
  5. If you have a downloadable file: drag it to your phone and tap on the download link. Then, select “Add to wallet and health.”

Apple said the company could not see the vaccination card or how it was used. The card is stored only in the phone and not in the cloud.

The company added that vaccination cards cannot be shared with other users on a separate device. Once added, users will need to confirm their identity via Face ID, Touch ID or Passcode.

If you want to keep using your physical COVID vaccination card, what should you do if it gets lost or damaged?

Although the logo of the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention may be on code vaccination cards, it does not have the information to easily print new cards. Instead, the state health department and healthcare providers will do it, and that’s where the search for a new card should begin.

Contact your healthcare provider.

If you lose or damage your Vaccine Card (or if you have never received one before) the first step is to contact the healthcare provider who administered the shot.

Many companies, including CVS and Walgreen’s, will keep a record of these vaccinations and can help individuals get new cards.

Other providers, including hospitals that run large-scale vaccination clinics, can also help.

Contact the Illinois State Department of Health.

If you are unable to contact your healthcare provider, or where you received the vaccination dose, the state health department should be able to assist through their immunization information system.

The law requires vaccine providers to report IV and other systems to the COVID-19 vaccine. Illinois records can be accessed. Through this portal.

Indiana records for COVID-19 vaccination can be accessed. Also through an online portal.

V-Safe or VaxText

If a person needs proof of vaccination to take the second or third dose of the COVID vaccine, V-Safe and TaxText programs can also help.

According to the CDC, these programs, which are designed to provide information about how individuals have performed after receiving their vaccines, also provide vaccine information to those individuals. Will be the ones who signed up.

If all else fails, contact your county health department for more information on how to proceed.

Authorities warn individuals that they cannot obtain paper cards to replace lost or damaged cards.
