Holly Willoughby has been announced as co-host of the new extreme survival series BBC.

This Morning presenter will join Lee Mack and extreme athlete Wim ‘The Iceman’ Hoff to host Superstar Survival – which sees celebrities ‘beating their demons in sub-zero temperatures’

The series will follow a group of psychic-seeking celebrities as they embark on an epic adventure of self-improvement, facing a unique test of mental strength like no other, guided by well-being icon Wim.

The BBC promises “true reality, high drama, stakes and lots of laughter” in the six-part series.

Holly is a big fan of Wim Hof, and you’ll watch celebrities take on wild and death-defying challenges in Europe’s harshest conditions, on a serious journey of self-discovery in a bid to defeat their demons.

The couple will address their anxiety and insomnia, as well as their ongoing health conditions, and they will all need to dig deep to embrace the sub-zero temperatures.

With A-list followers ranging from Tom Cruise to Justin Bieber and Oprah to David Beckham, Wim earned his nickname after setting world records that challenged modern medicine.

He ran a half-marathon over the Arctic Circle barefoot, immersed himself in ice for an hour and 52 minutes and climbed Mount Kilimanjaro in only his shorts and shoes.

Wim teaches people from all over the world, from celebrities and professional athletes, to people of all ages, to control their bodies and minds and achieve extraordinary things.

In addition to the main series on BBC One, BBC Three will offer viewers a sister show that delves deeper into the unique challenges celebrities will face, with a comedic feature.

Holly said of the show: “I can’t wait to collaborate with Lee and Wim on this show. Lee is a favorite in our house because he’s so funny and I’ve been a fan of Wim for a long time – he’s a genius who is very passionate about helping others.

Wim said: ‘I’ve dedicated my life to discovering how to become happier, healthier and stronger, and whatever I can do, you can do too.

“It is a dream come true to do this show with the BBC and to share what I have learned with millions of people.

“I will show this group of celebrities that cold is the entrance to their souls, and if they use the power of their minds, anything is possible.”

‘My passion in life is Wim Hof,’ he joked to me, ‘I watch this morning in my underwear, sub-zero temperatures, looking at celebrities sitting in cold water and free hotels. But trying to find a show that combines all of these things has proven difficult. I finally found one.

The show is produced by Dan Baldwin, husband of Holly, managing director of Hungry Bear Media, who has described it as “TV simply can’t be missed.”
