Google announced the return of holiday-based ringtones for the Nestor Bells on its Nest Community Blog this Wednesday (via 9to5 Google). Visitors to family holiday gatherings can now press the Nest Doorbell and be greeted with holiday sounds, including “winter,” Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, Christmas and New Year’s jingles.
Google also had holiday alarm options last year – but only as a benefit to subscribers to its Nest Aware Smart Alert service. This year, owners of both the Nest Doorbell and the wired version (formerly Nest Hello) can get fun work without this subscription. Google has stated that the new battery requires Nest Durable users to use the Google Home app with an account to activate themes – while wired users can also activate them through the Nest app and site.
Google is setting the trend for seasonal ringtones – in October of this year, the company released Halloween themed ringtones with a variety of scary tones. Ghost ringtones have also been replicated on indoor Nest speakers and hubs – a feature now available for new holiday ringtones so family and friends can have fun together before the door opens.
Google plans to launch new holiday ringtones from December 1 to January 5, 2022, after the New Year and beyond.
