According to the Mega Millions website, there is no ticket that matches all 5 numbers and the mega ball to win the jackpot, so the jackpot gets bigger.
However, there was one winning ticket from Florida that took home the million dollar prize by matching all five numbers.
There were also 9 $10,000 prize winners for those who matched four numbers and the mega ball. Four of them doubled their earnings using Megaplier.
There were 246 players who won $500 by matching four numbers, 53 of them doubled their prize to $1,000 with Megaplier.
About 710 players earned $200 by matching three numbers and the mega ball, and 160 players earned $400 using Megaplier. More than 495,000 tickets have won prizes of at least $2.
The jackpot will now grow to $45 million for a Tuesday draw with a cash option of $31.7 million.
Last month, a New York ticket holders won $431 million ($314.4 million in cash). The big win is the second state jackpot Mega Millions this year, after winning a $96 million jackpot in Oneida County on February 16.
Other prizes won in 2021 included $516 million in Pennsylvania on May 21, while $55 million was won in Illinois on June 8.
How does Mega Millions work?
Tickets are available in 45 states, the District of Columbia and the US Virgin Islands. Lottery tickets cannot be purchased in Alabama, Alaska, Hawaii, Nevada, and Utah.
Each retailer ticket costs $2, and for an additional $1, you can get a Megaplier. The jackpot starts at $20 million and increases each time you don’t win. Other prizes range from $2 to $1 million.
Players choose five numbers between 1 to 70 for the white balls while one number between 1 and 25 is chosen for the gold numbers. Players can also have a random selection via the Easy Pick or Quick Pick options.
The first prize winner can claim it either as an annual bonus or in cash. This can mean that they choose a one-time payment followed by 29 annual payments, with each payment increasing in value five percent over the previous one.
They can also choose the cash option which is a one-time payment and a lump sum equal to all cash in the Mega Millions jackpot pool.
Drawings are held Tuesday and Friday at WSB-TV in Atlanta, where five white balls are taken from a group numbered from 1 to 70. One large gold ball is drawn from a group numbered from 1 to 25.
