Abu Dhabi: Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan on Wednesday launched a smartphone app for the registration of biometrics of Hajj and Umrah pilgrims.
The move will enable aspiring Hajj and Umrah visas to apply to visa centers without having to issue visas online from their respective countries.
According to the Saudi Press Agency, upon arrival in Saudi Arabia, the pilgrims will be matched with biometrics.
With the launch of the new system, Saudi Arabia has become the first country to allow the entry of biometrics through smartphones to issue electronic visas.
Self-registration of the biometrics service will be done through the Saudi company Visa and Travel Solutions.
