Google is not fooled by fake lighthouse scores.

Google’s John Mرller told SEOs that Lighthouse’s fake scores would not help websites rank higher in search results.

For business owners, anyone tired of selling a service that promotes your SEO by cheating the lighthouse.

Mرller took to Twitter after Colin Bendel, a shoplifting performance engineer, drew attention to the issue.

With that in mind, it is possible that Shopify partners are selling “SEO boosters” that claim to increase rankings by deceiving the lighthouse.

In addition to not ranking any higher in the search results, Shopify Engineers. Warns Consequences of selling such a service

“It makes me angry when I see giants deliberately selling snake oil to businessmen.

Let me be clear: Any Shopify partner that sells an “SEO booster” that cheats the lighthouse score and damages the buyer’s experience is violating AUP and PPP. There will be consequences.

You are warned “

In a previous tweet, he showed an example of how developers are trying to fool Google with fake lighthouse scores.

This code instructs the website to recognize when the lighthouse is testing it.

If the ‘user agent’ detects ‘chrome lighthouse’ then ‘document.write ()’ is triggered. It deletes a page that is already full and starts writing something new.

As a result, the lighthouse does not receive an accurate reading of the website’s score, which is thought to have a positive effect on SEO. Probably because it hides the bad score.

I learned more from Mr. Bundle about why using ‘document.write ()’ is a bad thing. He tells me:

“This forces the browser to pause all activity and insert the page with the content. As a result, the browser cannot continue looking forward to the page because it needs to load other images or JavaScript because This document can change drastically depending on what Drive () does.

The problem is that if the condition. (If window.navigator.userAgent! == Lighthouse) Basically skips all scripts and CSS and other clutter. This really makes the page for the lighthouse really fast.

Although the Lighthouse may think it is testing a superfast site, Google will not be affected. What does Mرller have to say about this tactic?

Google’s John Mueller on Fake Lighthouse Score

Whether real or fictional, lighthouse scores are not used by Google to rank web pages.

In fact, user agent cloaking can have a negative effect on SEO because it prevents you from finding the real issues on your website.

M مولller. They say:

“Lighthouse scores do not affect Google search.

This type of user agent cloaking is a terrible idea – you are only deceiving yourself. It doesn’t make sense at all, and it prevents you from finding the real issues. If you run a plugin that does this, report it to CMS.

The lighthouse is intended to be used as a developer tool. Its scores are based on lab data, which is why it has no effect on search.

When looking at ranking factors such as page speed and basic web vitality, Google estimates them using field data.

Field data is collected from real users, as opposed to lab data generated through control tests.

Google likes to use field data because it accurately reflects the user experience.

Lighthouse scores are irrelevant to Google, but they can help identify and fix SEO problems.

However, this is only true if the site is properly tested, which is not possible with a user agent location.

The lighthouse leads to bad SEO.

Shopify’s bundle added that the technique could load pages for the lighthouse faster, but actual visitors will experience worse performance.

“The code snippets I shared in the tweet are speeding things up for the lighthouse, but the irony is that things are slowing down for real people. And since SEO is based on real human performance. Yes (using CrUX data), the irony is that the so-called speed is slowing down the human experience and thus slowing down your SEO.

Google warned developers against using Document Drive () in 2016, citing its negative effects on page performance:

… Script dynamically by injection document.write() Displaying homepage content can cause delays of tens of seconds, or cause pages to fail to load, or take so long that the user simply gives up.

The important thing here is not to try to deceive the lighthouse and no one should try to sell it as a service.
