Google has launched a new way to improve search videos

Google has a new way to improve videos for search results when they are published on a creator’s own website instead of YouTube.

It’s now easier for publishers to mark up their own videos for ‘critical moments’, allowing searchers to navigate directly to certain video segments.

This can easily be accomplished with a YouTube video, as it only requires a time stamp to be added to the video description.

Previously this video was annoying when the video was uploaded to a creator’s website because the site owner had to manually label each category.

Now, all the site owners have to do is specify the URL pattern to go to a particular time stamp in the video.

Google will then use AI to identify key moments in video, and show links directly to those moments in search results.

This capability, called Secto Action, was announced at Google I / O earlier this year and has been in beta for several months.

Google is out of beta by supporting any site that publishes this video.

Here’s an example of what code looks like.

There are a few things site owners need to keep in mind when using action action video markup.

  • Your URL should be capable of deep communication other than the starting point of the video. For example, http://www.example.com/example?t=30 starts with a video in 30 seconds.
  • The video object’s configured data must be included in a page where users can watch the video.
  • Use the SeekToAction markup on every video page where you want Google to automatically identify important moments.
  • To automatically identify key moments in your video, Google should be able to fetch your video content files.
  • The total length of the video must be at least 30 seconds.
  • The video should include the required features listed in the VideoObject-created data documentation.

Google added that the Seikoto Action Markup only applies to videos embedded on its website. This markup is not supported by any other third party platform.

If site owners prefer to recognize key moments in a video the old-fashioned way, instead of Google automatically identifying key moments, clip markup can be used instead of sequoia action.
