GM confirmed that a third electric pickup truck is in development
GM will add a full-size electric pickup truck to its GMC lineup, the latest from the carmaker last year in terms of EV product announcements when it reached the global 1 million mark by 2025. Pushes to provide more electric vehicles.
During the media presentation, EV Atha was shared in a slide deck and later confirmed by TechCrunch. Duncan Aldred, vice president of Global Buick and GMC, did not provide further details about the car or when it could be ready.
The GM brand is already launching its GMC Hummer EV in the fourth quarter of this year. The GMC Hummer EV, which will be manufactured at the company’s Factory Zero Assembly plant in Detroit and Hamburg, has 350 miles of torque up to 11,500 pounds, with a starting price of 1,000 HP and, 80,000 ۔
The announcement comes three months after GM announced plans to build an electric Chevrolet Silverrado pickup truck, which will also be stored at the Factory Zero plant. The Chevrolet Silverrado EV Pick will be based on the Automaker’s Ultimate battery platform and will have an estimated charge of over 400 miles.
GM President Mark Race said at the time that the company was positioning the Chevrolet full-size pickup for both the consumer and commercial markets. The automaker plans to offer retail and fleet versions of the Salvado Electric pickup with a variety of options and configurations.
