Get rid of your Oculus Quest 2 on Facebook with this free tool – Review Geek.

The most frustrating thing about Oculus Quest is that it needs to be linked to a Facebook account. Not only does this allow Facebook to collect your personal data, but it also means that your Oculus headset will not work if there is another massive shutdown on Facebook. But a 17-year-old coder has found a solution.

Basti564, a young YouTuber known for VR hacks and guides, has just published Oculess. This sideloadable tool breaks the link between your Oculus account and Facebook in a few easy steps. To sideload the Oculus app, you need to enable developer mode on your Oculus Quest 2.

Although there are some drawbacks to this process. Saying goodbye to Facebook means that key Oculus features, such as Oculus Store, Casting, Oculus TV, and the built-in Oculus browser will stop working. Also, some apps downloaded from Quest Store will not launch.

This means you will be side-loading all your apps from here. But that’s not the end of the world, there are plenty of alternatives to what Facebook has to offer. You can replace the Oculus browser with Firefox Realty, for example, and the Quest app launcher lets you use any software that the official Oculus Store “needs”.

And hey, there’s one. Your Great game that should take you to your Oculus Quest. There is even one. Pokemon VR game that lets you personally experience trainer battles!

You can find the Oculus installation guide on Gut Hub in Basti 544. For instructions on cycling loading Oculus apps, check out our complete guide. How Geek.
