Germany is about to block one of the biggest porn sites

German child protection regulators The world’s largest pornographic website is on the verge of being blocked. Officials are blocking the country’s largest Internet service provider, saying a pornographic website, believed to be accessible to 83 million Germans as an X-hamster.

The blocking order, which may be issued in the coming weeks by the Commission for the Protection of Minors in the Media (Commission for the Protection of Minors in the Media In German (or KJM), X hamsters have followed failure to introduce age verification checks to prevent children under 18 from accessing pornography. The ruling is the latest in a two-year campaign by regulators to force all accessible pornographic websites in Germany to impose age verification checks.

Legislators around the world, including Canada, France, the United Kingdom, and some US states, want to introduce more measures aimed at preventing children from accessing adult content online. But Germany’s move is one of the largest ever taken, with critics likening it to censorship.

KJM President Mark John Ayman says German authorities are cracking down on four major pornographic websites. The group, which represents the country’s 14 state media authorities, is responsible for enforcing the broader agreement on child protection by all surrounding states. This is in addition to German child protection laws. Ayman declined to confirm the four websites against which KJM is taking legal action. However, German reporting states that the lawsuits are against X-Hamster and three other websites, UPoorn, PoorHub, and My Dirty Hobby, all owned by Mindgack.

Regulators have been trying to force pornographic websites to introduce age verification checks since September 2019. This may include uploading of identification documents. Most of it has been pushed by Tobias Schmidt, a state regulator from the North Rhine State Media Authority. – Westphalia, who was criticized for his views on sex, but now KJM is also handling the matter.

Ayman says companies should install age-checking systems to make sure their visitors are not children. Ayman says that by law, pornography should only be accessible to adults. In all four cases, pornographic Web sites with German-language versions have been accused of failing to introduce age verification systems.

A pornographic site thought to be an X-hamster was first contacted by regulators in March 2020 and then others by June 2020. Requests for confirmation of age have now turned into a legal commotion, and three cases are awaiting hearing by one of the Dسلsseldorf administration courts, Emann says.

In the case of X-Hamster, it is believed that there has been no response from the website owners. As a result, the case is considered the most advanced and could result in an order to block the site in Germany in the coming weeks. In late June 2021, KJM identified the company that hosts the X-Hamster and asked it not to make the website available. “We have a blocking order for the hosting provider, which is based in the Netherlands.” “If the hosting provider does not comply, we will take the final step.” The order expired earlier this week, KJM confirmed. “The last step is a blockade order against the provider of access to Germany,” Ayman added.

In fact, it means blocking Germany’s largest web providers – including Vodafone, Deutsche Telekom, O2, and 1 and 1. – They are required to block websites for people trying to access it in Germany. The largest providers will be targeted first, followed by smaller ones, and it is possible that the domain name will be blocked at the system (DNS) level. When you search the web, the URL that you type in your browser’s address bar is converted to an IP address via DNS. Imposing a DNS block would mean that anyone who typed the address of the pornographic site into their browser would not be able to see the page.
