Fireworks on the field…literally! Matches at both Hashtag United and Waterford at Bonfire Night have been marred by fan idiots shooting missiles at players – one match has been canceled after fans refused to stop.

Fireworks broke out around the world on Friday night, but Hashtag United and Waterford were no longer so.
Footage emerged of fans in Ireland lighting fireworks and directing them towards players on the field. As a result, the Waterford match was suspended.
Meanwhile, Hashtag United had to abandon their game after a fireworks launch in a nearby house hit one of their players on the field.

Waterford’s match against Shamrock Rovers was suspended after fireworks exploded on the field at RSC.
Referee Rob Hennessy had to suspend the match after fans in the far runway set fireworks and threw them onto the field.
Players and sports staff were seen covering their heads as they ran for cover during the match on Friday night.
Footage emerged of fans setting off fireworks and throwing them onto the field just 15 minutes after the match.
Three large fireworks exploded over the players’ heads before Hennessy asked for the match to be suspended.
Anthony Wordsworth of Waterford was visibly injured by the fireworks and was helped by his teammates after being hit twice.
The match resumed eight minutes after the stoppage but an announcement was issued by the PA saying: “The referee stated that if there was further anti-social behavior the match would be abandoned.”
Shamrock Rovers continued to win 3-1 despite Waterford’s early lead via John Martin.
It is believed that the police removed several fans associated with the fireworks from the stadium.
Such fans will likely face prosecution as law in the Republic of Ireland states that “only F1 class fireworks (such as sparking fireworks) are available for sale, possession and use by amateurs.”
The incident at RSC comes just days after Dundalk announced that any fan caught with fireworks at matches would face a life ban.

The club has since confirmed on Twitter that our drunk is fine but said the game had to be abandoned because the house the fireworks came from refused to stop.
The Essex-based club confirmed that police were called to intervene in the wake of the incident.
