Fort Lauderdale, Florida. (WSVN) – A K9 with Fort Lauderdale Fire Rescue is in the process of retiring.

Fort Lauderdale Fire Rescue held a farewell party for Rit after nearly a decade of service.

Rhett has served since 2013 and initially retired earlier this year. However, after the apartment collapsed at Surfside, he was sent back to the field.

In addition to the Surfside collapse, Rit has also responded to other incidents, such as hurricane landfill sites, and the explosion at the Plantation Mall.

Rhett worked alongside his partner Guinness and his handler, Captain Bustos.
