England vs India third test, day two live: Latest results and updates

aAnderson was ably assisted by other speed bowling. Craig Overton in his test took 3-14 in 10.4 overs, Ole Robinson was excellent at 2-16 out of 10, and Sam Curran picked a couple as well.

A good start to the ball after India won the toss and their choice of racket was just part of the job, though it was necessary. The real bonus was that England got to the end of the game unbeaten and with a 42-point lead. Rory Burns and Hasid Hamid formed a new inaugural partnership and reached 120/0 in the logs. Hamid scored an unbeaten 60 as he moved up the standings and the Burns collected 52 in decent form. There were few chances and few signs of danger for the openers, though Hamid made slips in the 1940s.

What is England’s goal today? Simply to try to paddle well and paddle once. At 120/0 they will be looking to get past 350 and get close to leading 200, but today is a different day and it’s not always that simple. Losing one or both burns or benigns early can lead to a change in skin color. However, even if they lost all their share for 100 rounds today, this would still be 150 times ahead for England. It’s a long way back to India from here.
