Engelbert Humberdink cancels long-awaited UK tour due to illness

Leicester’s Engelbert Humperdinck has canceled his UK tour at the last minute due to illness.

The 85-year-old was set to return to the city to perform at De Montfort Hall this month as part of his much-anticipated tour through 14 cities.

But in a sad announcement for fans, the star revealed that he had a “virtual bronchial infection” and was unable to perform.

In the message, the singer said: “Dear fans.

“I am so upset about having to contact you that we have to cancel our UK tour. I have had a viral infection in my airways and am now being treated for it.

“This has never happened before and I really wanted to see you all in 14 cities. We will be rescheduling shows early next year.

“Stay well and remember……. I love you.”

Engelbert received earlier this year a Member of the Best Order of the British Empire (MBE) For his services to music.

The cancellation would come as a disappointment to many fans who adore the singer not only for his voice but for his personality. Engelbert has continued to keep in touch with his fans around the world through his YouTube channel and social media.
