WEST LAFAYETTE, INDIANA – Gophers recipient Dylan Wright regrets the loss of a second high school classmate and friend from West Mesquite, Texas.
Wright was excused from making a trip to play Bordeaux on Saturday and returned home to Texas after learning that Utah cornerback Aaron Lowe had been killed in a shooting Sept. 26 in Salt Lake City. It came less than a year after his former teammate and friend T. Jordan was killed in an accidental shooting in December 2020.
In August, Lowe was the first recipient of the Utes Memorial Scholarship in the name of Jordan.
Wright, who moved to Minnesota in January from Texas A&M, is second on the team with nine receptions for 169 yards and two touchdowns this season.
