Witnesses driving on the police highway said they saw a Honda drive in and out of the southern lanes moments before the crash.

Soon after, the Honda driver reportedly hit 18 wheels, and continued to drive. Next, witnesses said he hit a red Mercedes, and then hit a box truck.

When the driver hit the trunk of the truck, the little girl was thrown out of the car.

It is unclear where she is sitting inside the car, or whether she is wearing a seat belt.

Paramedics from the Houston Fire Department took the girl to the hospital, where she remained in critical condition as of Sunday night.

According to HPD, the 5-year-old wasn’t the only young child inside that car. In fact, it was the largest of the three.

Two children, 4 and 2 years old, were hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.

The authorities did not say what the relationship between the driver and the three young children was.

This driver was arrested and charged with drunkenness assault.
