Dangerous pursuit includes stolen car winds across Southland, driver going wrong on 5 highways – CBS Los Angeles
Los Angeles (Spicela) A suspect behind the wheel of a stolen car is driving authorities in a long and dangerous chase across Southland on Friday.
The chase involving the stolen car began sometime before 12:30 p.m. at Exposition Park.
With LAPD officers being chased, the manhunt made its way to downtown Los Angeles and then East Los Angeles, before crossing the shallow streets of the Commerce.
The suspect then jumped onto Southbound Interstate 5 and headed south to Norwalk and Anaheim.
Shortly after 1 p.m., the suspect pulled a U-turn and began walking in the wrong direction on the south side of Interstate 5.
The suspect then stopped on the south side of Interstate 5 near Artesia Street in Buena Park. Traffic stopped on both sides of the highway.
However, at about 1:20 pm, the suspect began moving again, continuing to drive in the wrong direction on the south side of the highway. The driver got off the highway, and made his way into the shallow streets of Buena Park.
Los Angeles police officers tried to perform pit maneuvers several times, but failed. The suspect slowly made his way to Beach Boulevard in Buena Park.
