The Lost Daughter is a psychological drama written and directed by Maggie, and based on the novel of the same name by Elena Ferrante.

The film had its world premiere at the 78th Venice International Film Festival on 3 September, where Maggie won the Osella Gold Award for Best Screenplay.

The film also received a standing ovation for four minutes from the audience at the Venice Film Festival.

The film tells the story of Olivia, as Lida, a college professor, who finds herself obsessed with another woman (Dakota) and her young daughter while on summer vacation, prompting memories of her early motherhood to come back and unravel.

The Lost Daughter starring Peter Sarsgaard, Paul Mescal, Ed Harris, and Oliver Jackson Cohen.

The movie will be shown on Netflix on New Year’s Eve after a two-week limited release in US cinemas.

Lost Daughter takes place on an island in Greece.
