Covid’s international cases exceed 212.7 million

August 24th

Worldwide, the total number of confirmed cases of Covid-19 has reached 212,717,000, with more than 4,445,000 deaths reported.

Some EU countries, such as France, Germany and Italy, have seen a slight increase in daily confirmed Covid-19 cases in July and August.

France, with more than 6,708,000 cases since the onset of the pandemic, is in fourth place worldwide in total confirmed cases, but only the United States, India and Brazil have surpassed them.

As the Delta variant narrows the healthcare system in France, the country also reports that the number of people currently hospitalized for Covid-19 is higher than it has been for more than two months.

Israel has exceeded a total of 1,005,000 confirmed Covid-19 cases and saw an increase in daily confirmed cases and deaths in August.

Although more than 5,445,000 people (61.3%) in the country are fully vaccinated, more than 1,000,000 Israelis have not yet received a dose of the Covid-19 vaccine.

This gap is due in part to vaccine hiccups in some groups, which the Israeli Ministry of Health reports as the highest among the country’s poorer communities.

In addition to lower vaccination rates in some communities, influx cases can also be attributed to the spread of infectious Delta strains, which have also been on the rise in Israel.
