Corona man arrested for fatally stabbing his girlfriend at IE house in Nevada

Police said Wednesday that a man suspected of killing his girlfriend with the coronavirus earlier this week has been arrested in Nevada.

Officers discovered the dead woman when they responded to the assault call with injuries at the 1500 Building on Rimbau Street around 1 p.m. Monday, according to a press release from the Corona Police Department.

Police said the woman appeared to have been stabbed multiple times.

Officials identified the victim as Cassandra Toms, 39, from Corona.

The statement stated that investigators stated that her boyfriend, Jeremy Pearson, 37, of Corona, is the only suspect in the murder. Then an arrest warrant was issued for him.

On Tuesday morning, police found and arrested Pearson in Sparks, Nevada. The statement said he was being held in Washoe County Jail pending extradition to Southern California.

No further details were released about the incident, including a possible motive for the killing.
