Colorado Weather: Sunshine, 70’s Thursday; The first cold front arrives this weekend with rain and snow

DENVER (KDVR) – Expect 78-degree sunny skies in Denver on Thursday. The normal height is now 70.

The mountains remain dry and partly sunny with elevations in the 60s and 70s.

The first two cold fronts hit the mountains on Friday and continue into Saturday. Snow levels remain above 10,000 feet where it can be 1 to 4 inches. It will rain below 10,000 feet.

In Denver, most of the precipitation stays in the mountains and we’ll see breezy conditions with increased clouds and cooler highs falling into the 1960s.

A low drop could drop some extra snow in the mountains of southern Colorado on Sunday.

The second cold front from Monday to Tuesday is stronger and colder. Snow level will drop to 8000 feet (or less). Ski areas can experience 3-6 inches with temperatures in the 20s and 30s.

Denver could see its first frost/freeze in the wake of this cold front.
