Clubhouse is developing a new way to invite friends to chat called ‘View’
Clubhouse is not just an app that you can take out to join celebrities. It has a variety of rooms that you can use, including where you can have intimate, private conversations with friends – and in the future, you can invite these friends for “waving” chat. Jane Manchun Wong, known for her reverse engineering apps that explore hidden experimental features, has discovered that Clubhouse is working on a new way to invite contacts to audio conversations.
If the feature gets a wide release, Clubhouse will add a “view” button to user profiles that looks like a view button when you first contact someone on Messenger. Tapping on it will let a friend know you want to chat, and the app will only open a room for you if they answer.
Clubhouse launched as an invitation-only audio app for iOS that you have to add to a waiting list to sign up. Celebrities such as Elon Musk and Mark Zuckerberg have previously used it to communicate in open rooms where users can host public conversations with listeners. However, this feature can make it more comfortable to use and convince users not to go to another app when it’s time to talk to family and friends.
