Citadel outlets open early for shopping on Black Friday

Commerce, California (KABC) – The Citadel Outlets opened for Thanksgiving shopping on Black Friday, the first time since the start of the pandemic that they’ve opened early for the holiday tradition.

“Hopefully we can get back to a normal life, have a great crowd, and people are happy to be back,” said David Plagg, outlet manager.

According to Blagg, outlets did not open early for Black Friday shopping in 2020 – which usually happens on Thanksgiving night.

This year, they opened the property gates at 4 p.m. to let shoppers in, but stores opened at 8 p.m.

The lines were long as shoppers waited for the opportunity to buy merchandise at discounted prices and thousands of people came to the mall.

In light of recent mob robberies across California, Blagg said they’re taking a different approach with safety this year.

“We have some new security measures in place,” Plagg said. “Let’s just say that within 1-2 minutes of the alarm being triggered, we need to close positions as far as getting in or out, we are very capable of doing that,” Plagg said.
