Los Angeles (Spila) – A man suspected of car theft has been arrested in El Sereno after leading police in a chase that lasted about 40 minutes.
Los Angeles Police Department officers began pursuing the man who was driving a white SUV with a passenger inside in the Cesar E. Chavez and Eastern Avenue area at about 9:05 p.m. in East Los Angeles, according to the department.

The driver drove police at high speeds through Boyle Heights and near Los Angeles International Airport, wiping a pickup truck on East Olympic Boulevard and southern Arizona Avenue.

The SUV stopped on Huntington Drive and Lefor Street in El Sereno around 9:45 p.m., and both the driver and passenger left the car and surrendered to the police.

They were detained without further incident. No further details were released.
