Bellerica (CBS) – Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan has confirmed that the car found in the Concord River belonged to 17-year-old Judith Chartier, who has been missing for nearly 40 years.
Chartier was last seen leaving a party in Bellerica around 2 a.m. on June 5, 1982.
According to DA, parts of a 1972 Dodge Dart Swinger were found in the river, and on Tuesday, they were matched to a Chartier’s VIN.
“This is a very important development in this case and we are still treating the vehicle for any further evidence. Unfortunately, this discovery comes nearly forty heartbreaking years after Judith’s friends and family lost her and wondered what had happened that day,” DA Ryan said in a statement. We are committed to continuing to search for those answers.”
The Cold Cases Unit of the Middlesex District Attorney’s Office, Bellerica Police, Chelmsford Police, Massachusetts State Police Detectives and the Massachusetts State Police Diving Team are assisting in the investigation.
