BrainUp 5K raises nearly 250,000 people for cancer awareness

CHICAGO – Fighting brain cancer step by step, that’s the goal of a foundation called BrainUp.

The organization aims to spread awareness of brain cancer. The group held their sixth 5km run and walk on Saturday morning at Maggie Daly Park.

BrainUp was founded by Dan and Meg Kresach from Frankfurt, who lost their only daughter to brain cancer at the age of 22.

On Saturday, participants raised nearly $250,000. Sunday will be a virtual 5km for those who can’t make it to Saturday’s event. Anyone interested can still Donates.

WGN’s Jackie Pang leads the event.
