Bold text can help your SEO.

Google’s John Mرller has confirmed that bolding important text in a paragraph can help your site’s SEO as it allows Google to better understand the content.

This was stated during the office hours of Google Search Central SEO recorded on November 12, 2021.

A question has been asked about the benefits of using bold text.

Is this purely a stylist’s choice? Or can it also be used for SEO purposes?

Mرller definitely states that it helps SEO.

However, the extent to which this helps is related to the rest of the content on the page.

The next part is more about what that means.

Google’s John Mرller on using bold text for SEO

In answer to that question, Mرller cited a video from former Googler Matt Kitts where he had touched on the subject before.

“This is something that comes up all the time. I checked twice before the session, in fact, and Matt Kitts made a video, I think, like 2012 or something else on or around the page. About being strong and strong. “

I went back and watched the video to find out if Kitts didn’t actually talk about the SEO implications of bold text.

What makes this news special to Miller?

Kits video And Is there a difference between using tags and them?

It doesn’t matter, but that’s not the point of this debate.

As far as SEO is concerned, Mرller says that bold text can add extra value to a page.

Google crawlers search for text that is either bold or italicized in order to understand what is important on that page.

Mرller added that Google can usually figure out what is important on its own, but bold text makes the message clearer.

“So in general we try to understand what the content is on the web page, and we look at different things in order to find out what is actually being emphasized here, and This includes things like page titles.

But it also includes things like what is actually bold or emphasized inside the text on the page. So to some extent that there is a little extra value in it, it is a clear indication that you think this page or this paragraph is about this topic here.

And it’s usually the way we think the page is anyway, so it doesn’t change that much. “

The SEO benefits of bold text are relative.

M مولller explained that the value of bold text is in comparison to the rest of the content on the page.

A few pieces of bold text throughout the article can send a strong signal to Google. But bolding all the text on the page will not add any value.

“The other thing is that it is, to a large extent, relative within the web page. So if you go and say, well I’ll just make my whole page bold and then Google will think my page is the most important. Yeah Al that sounds pretty crap to me, Looks like BT aint for me either.

Whereas if you take a handful of sentences or words across your page where you say it’s really important to me and you bold them out, it’s easy for us to say that there are a lot of phrases, and This is probably one of them. The most important points of this page, and we can give it a little more importance.

And basically this kind of thing all happens around semantic HTML where you are giving a page a little more meaning by using the appropriate markup for the page. And from our point of view, that’s a good thing. This helps us to understand the page a little better.

Mرller concludes with a concise statement about the SEO value of bold text.

“So if you want to simplify it into a literal answer, does bolding the key points on the paragraph help SEO, yes it does. It helps us better understand this paragraph or this page. Is.
