Los Angeles (Spila) – On Tuesday, Los Angeles County Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS) Director Bobby Cagle told county leaders that he plans to resign effective December 31.
Cagle has been running the nation’s largest childcare agency since December 1, 2017.
Both the director and the department have been criticized for recent cases of abuse and death involving children in DCFS care.
And the county agency announced in a press release that Cagle will be leaving the department to pursue another career in the private sector.
“It has been an honor to lead this important work and work alongside all of you, the thousands of committed childcare employees at LA County DCFS,” Principal Cagle wrote in an email to staff.
“As always, I want to thank each and every one of you for your tireless efforts to protect children and strengthen families,” he added.
According to the agency, Ginger Pryor will temporarily succeed Cagle as acting manager.
