Bitcoin mining machines were steamed by Malaysian police

Police in the Malaysian state of Sarawak recently found themselves saddled with 1,069 bitcoin mining machines – and found an innovative way to dispose of them.

Cryptocurrency mining equipment, estimated at about 1.25m (920,000), was seized in raids between February and April this year.

According to police, the machines were running on stolen electricity.

Bitcoin mining veins are connected to complex computers and in return they are awarded cryptocurrency. A process that uses a large amount of energy.
