Biden’s decision to offer booster shots this fall has drawn criticism.

Earlier this week, the Biden administration announced that all American adults who have received the mRNA vaccine will be eligible for booster shots eight months after receiving their second dose, with full FDA approval and c. The vaccine is pending review by the DC Vaccine Advisory Committee. Officials added that those who have received the Johnson & Johnson vaccine may also be eligible for the booster, but that more data is needed before they can be made official. The news came shortly after the FDA and the CDC signed up to offer a third dose of the vaccine to Americans who had compromised immunity.

So far, experts have had mixed reactions to Biden’s decision. Three new studies released by the CDC show that vaccine efficacy has declined over several months, especially during the Delta variety boom. But some scientists have criticized the move to offer a booster, saying the figures are not convincing enough to guarantee a third shot for all Americans. And yesterday, the WHO’s Africa director said that making the call when so many people in poor countries have not yet received a single shot “makes a mockery of the vaccine equation.”

More schools are introducing new masks and vaccination requirements.

After more than a week of legal battles over the ban on Texas Governor Greg Abbott’s mask mandate, the Texas Education Agency said yesterday that the ban would not apply to the state’s public school system because of ongoing judicial challenges. There will be further guidance once the legal process is resolved. The agency also said it needed to tell district teachers, staff and families if there was a confirmed case of covid 19 in a classroom or extracurricular. Prior to the ruling, some schools in the state were looking for ways to lift Abbott’s ban, such as writing masks in the dress code.

Elsewhere in the country, some school districts have begun implementing new types of mandates. Clover City, California recently said all eligible students should get their shots, which is a first for the country. And New York City says all high school athletes and coaches involved in high-risk sports need to be vaccinated to play.

The United States has extended closure of land borders between Canada and Mexico as travel restrictions continue around the world.

The Department of Homeland Security announced today that US land borders with Canada and Mexico will remain closed for unnecessary travel until September 21. Canada, on the other hand, opened its borders two weeks ago to vaccinate Americans with a negative test less than 72 hours after their arrival, making it the first unnecessary in the country since the outbreak began. Passengers allowed. The country has also recently stipulated that all passengers and workers on its commercial flights need to be vaccinated.

Finding a way to travel safely during epidemics is a challenge for many people. More stories have surfaced recently in Europe, shortly before the end of the holiday, about people testing positive for the corona virus and extending their visits to each country in compliance with the quarantine mandate. And today, Hong Kong changed its quarantine period from 14 to 21 days for people from “high-risk” countries, including the United States.

A Question

Are social media platforms responsible for spreading misinformation about vaccines?

Recently, the White House accused Facebook of fanning the flames of misinformation, thus discouraging the vaccine from taking shots and encouraging the spread of Covid 19. But it is difficult to argue that any social network, even on Facebook, is close to the effects of vaccine hesitation on conservative cable news channels such as Fox News. The problem is even more biased: the average vaccination rate in the counties that voted for Biden was about 12 percentage points higher than those who went to Trump in early July. And in the last two weeks, about 60 percent of the vaccine-related episodes on Fox have hurt vaccination efforts.
