Astroworld Festival Mass Loss: Father identifies unknown Astroworld Festival victim as 21-year-old son Axel Acosta

Edgar Acosta confirmed to ABC13 that his son, Axel, was the unidentified victim who was recovered from Memorial Hermann Hospital after the accident.

Axel’s aunt Cynthia Acosta said her nephew traveled alone from Washington to see rapper Travis Scott climb the podium at NRG Park. He was at the event alone.

“It was the first time he had gone to an event like this,” Cynthia said.

Axl turned 21 last month. He was studying computer science at Western Washington University.

Acosta told ABC13 that the police made it difficult for him to file a missing persons report because Axel was living in Washington.

Representatives from the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences released a photo of Axel on Saturday, just 24 hours after the accident.

The authorities have not yet announced the cause of his death.
