Since joining the Reds from Hull City in the summer of 2017, Robertson has established himself as a key member of Jurgen Klopp’s champion team that won the Premier League, Champions League, Club World Cup and European Super Cup.

The 27-year-old has made 177 appearances for the club so far and was named captain of Scotland in September 2018.

He became the fifth player in Klopp’s squad to commit to his future with Liverpool in recent weeks, after Trent Alexander-Arnold, Fabinho, Alisson Becker and Virgil van Dijk.

Robertson continued: “When he signed with a huge club, I still remember today as if it was yesterday when you signed here and you obviously have ambitions to become a regular player for Liverpool, to win trophies for this club, and to do everything else. But the way you went was excellent. .

“But from the start of my career I’ve always been a forward-looking person: This was in the past, and it’s something I can sit with people who want to listen to me when I’ve put my shoes on and retired and I can tell them all the stories we’ve already written.

“But I am definitely one of them, and I know that a lot of the people in this training ground now are forward-looking people and people [who want] To create more history, more stories. I hope people get bored of me when I retire and I can sit for hours and hours telling them all the stories!

“They are definitely improving but I want to achieve more and obviously I hope to start this season. We want to achieve more and hopefully we can bring more titles and happiness to this club.

“The only way to do that is by working hard and getting the same app we’ve done since day one.”
