Andros Townsend reunites with Rafael Benitez at Everton ‘brainless’ | Everton

Everton have signed a two-year contract with former England winger Andros Townsend. The 30-year-old was available on a free transfer after his contract with Crystal Palace expired at the end of last season.

This move will see Townsend bond again with Rafael Benitez, The new Everton managerHaving previously played under the Spaniard at Newcastle. Townsend told Everton TV: “I think everyone knows what Everton is. It’s a huge football club, very ambitious, a club trying to get back to where it belongs in Europe and beyond.

“I will do everything in my power to help the club do it. As the old cliché goes, there was no thinking. Rafa is very expert. He does a lot of work on the tactical side of the training ground, and leaves no stone unturned. But most importantly, he is Great guy, great manager, he’s always talking to you. I’m sure he’ll be very successful here.”

Townsend, who had 13 caps for England, made his name at Tottenham where he came from the youth ranks. he is Moved to Newcastle in 2016 But he left for Palace after being relegated from the Premier League later that year. He spent five seasons in Selhurst Park.

Townsend tweeted: “After 5 amazing years and countless memories, it’s time to say goodbye to everyone at Crystal Palace. I would like to extend a special thanks to the Chairman for bringing me to Selhurst and giving me the opportunity to wear red and blue, to Sam (Allardyce) and Roy (Hodgson) for believing in me, And to my team- guys for the special moments we enjoyed together on the pitch.

“For Palace fans. The heart of the club. For each of you… Thank you. Thank you for all your support, that support is what makes the club and Selhurst Park so special.

“It’s a shame we didn’t say goodbye properly, but we’ll be meeting each other soon enough and I’m already looking forward to getting back to Selhurst when we meet again. Until next time, there’s a star playing right.”
