An officer was injured after a suspect crashed into a police car in West Philadelphia

Philadelphia (CBS) – An officer was injured Monday night after a suspected driver of a stolen car collided with his police car in West Philadelphia, officials said. The accident occurred on 57th and Arch Streets around 11:30 p.m.

Police say the officer from the 18th precinct was trying to stop a Chevrolet Malibu with lights and a siren wanted in a previous car hijacking. But that car hit his police car and then ran off on 57th Street. The employee is currently at Penn Presbyterian Medical Center in stable condition.

The Chevrolet Malibu then collided with two parked vehicles in block 200 of South 57th Street. Police say two suspects fled the scene on foot.

No arrests were made. The accident is under investigation.
