Miami Beach, FLA. (WSVN) – A man who recently moved to South Florida from South America is telling his story, police said, days after he became the victim of a violent armed robbery just feet from his door.

According to the victim, the predawn ambush occurred along Pennsylvania Avenue, near 10th Street, early Friday morning.

The 20-year-old, who came to the United States from Venezuela, said he was on his way to his new job at a nearby restaurant when he encountered two men.

A police report stated that “both individuals produced a black pistol.”

“[The said]Money, money, money, said the victim, who asked not to be identified or show his face in front of the camera.

The victim’s older brother spoke on his behalf to 7News, Monday.

“He’s really scared now,” he said. “He doesn’t speak English. He doesn’t understand what they said, you know? He just understands the word ‘money.'”

The victim spoke through an interpreter, describing what happened next.

“The other put the gun in the front of my head,” he said.

Meanwhile, he said the other person had a gun on his back.

Moments later, the second victim hit him in the back of the head with the pistol.

The victim said he was kicked while on the sidewalk, and the thieves grabbed his black wallet, which contained multiple credit cards and his Venezuelan driver’s license, as well as his gold iPhone X.

The victim said the thieves also took his bag, which contained shoes and other items, before escaping.

The iPhone was later found near.

The 20-year-old said he came from his troubled country less than a month ago in search of a better life and more opportunities.

“After that happened, he was really afraid to walk alone at night and go to work, like walking again,” his brother said.
