Adult film actor Ron Jeremy has been indicted by a grand jury on more than 30 counts of sexual assault of 21 women and girls over more than two decades, authorities said.
Jeremy, 68, whose legal name is Ronald Jeremy Hayat, has pleaded not guilty Angels On Wednesday, the Supreme Court issued all charges, including 12 counts of rape.
The indictment, which was returned on August 19 and revealed on Wednesday, covers allegations dating back from 1996 to 2019 of victims between the ages of 15 and 51. The charges seem to match the charges Up against Jeremy last year, which he also denied.
In a tactical move that was also used in their case against Harvey Weinstein, Los Angeles prosecutors used secret grand jury procedures to obtain an indictment that would replace the original charges, allowing them to skip an initial public hearing on evidence and proceed with the trial.
Defense attorney Stuart Goldfarb said in an email that Jeremy’s position “is the same as it was at the time of the criminal complaint. He is innocent of all charges.”
Jeremy has been held in prison on $6.6 million bail since his arrest in June 2020.
The indictment included allegations that Jeremy raped a 19-year-old woman during a photo session in 1996, raped a 26-year-old woman in a nightclub in 2003 and raped a 17-year-old girl in a home in 2008.
He is also accused of sexually assaulting a 15-year-old girl in 2004.
No trial date has been set. Jeremy was asked to return to court in October for a pre-trial hearing.
Jeremy has been among the most popular and prolific artists in the porn industry for decades, appearing in hundreds of films since the 1970s. He has also appeared regularly in mainstream films and reality TV shows.
Weinstein has pleaded not guilty to 10 counts of sexual assault and is also awaiting trial. The judge dismissed the eleventh count.
