(CBS local) – Elizabeth Mitchell has been a household name in Hollywood for years, and one of the main reasons is that she loves to take on roles that intimidate and challenge her. The actor best known for playing Dr. Juliet Burke in the hit series “Lost” recently appeared in the second season of the Netflix series “Outer Banks” as Carla Limbri, and is releasing a new movie on Friday, October 1, titled “Witch Hunt.”
DJ Sixsmith from CBS Local recently spoke with Mitchell about her Hollywood career, her talent for joining already successful TV shows and her memories of filming “Lost” in Hawaii and why she was fascinated by the many different layers of her character Juliet.
“Looks like I jumped into really great shows after they got great,” Mitchell said. “The joy in that is that they have their voice and I just come in and play and the weight of that isn’t on my shoulder. It’s a position I love to be in and I love to join in on great things. I honestly can’t screw it up because I’m not the thing that makes it great in the first place. That’s a thing as an actor. I can do it over and over. I turn up and do weird and weird things and it doesn’t really matter because I’m not going to affect the show. I like to play someone I’m a little scared of.”
Mitchell says her Outer Banks character Limbury isn’t a great human and she loved the challenge of figuring out how to play this woman. The actor felt similarly about playing Juliet in ‘Lost’. It’s been over a decade since the last episode of the series and many shows are still trying to replicate the formula that made the ABC drama such a hit.
“Lost was terrifying because it was such a huge show,” Mitchell said. “When I got the test, I said I wasn’t going to do it. Nobody would get Lost. Luckily, I had just had a baby and I was doing some work at my house and I had just fallen off the stairs and broke my foot and wrist. Now I was in the way, shape, or The figure is ready for nerves so I just went there to do it.Lost was really a little different because I already understood Juliet from the moment I read it.It made sense to me.It’s not always the case and I have to work on a lot of these guys.Lost was An entertaining piece and an actor’s dream.”
