A man was shot near a homeless camp in East Auckland
Auckland – A man was shot and killed near a homeless camp in east Auckland, authorities said on Thursday.
At approximately 3:10 p.m., officers responded to reports of ShotSpotter activity near Alameda Street and Fruitvale in the city’s South Kennedy Tract neighborhood.
Soon, officers found a man in the 3300 block of Alameda Avenue with at least one gunshot wound, and they provided care until paramedics and firefighters responded as well.
Police said the man was taken to hospital, where he was initially listed in a stable condition. Investigators have not shared information about or associated with any suspected vehicle.
